Sweet and spicy bread and butter pickles you can prepare in minutes then let sit for the cucumber slices to marinate in a sweet and sour brine. These are incredibly delicious and addictive. No canning required as these are refrigerator pickles.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the pickling brine and bring to a soft boil. Stir until sugar and salt are dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside.
Place the onions in a 1 quart mason jar. Add the garlic and the dill. Add the cucumbers and push them down to fit them all in.
Pour the vinegar mixture into the jar to cover the cucumbers. Push them down to submerge. Leave the jar uncovered on counter until cooled. Seal the jar and gently shake over and under. Place in the refrigerator and let it sit at least a few hours to flavor. Best served next day. These will last for 4 weeks in the fridge but they're so good, they’ll be gone by then.
