Beer Bread has a dense and chewy center which contrasts beautifully with its buttery and crunchy crust. It only takes a few minutes to prepare and an hour to bake. You control the flavor by the beer you choose.
In a large mixing bowl, stir the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Combine well.
Add half of the melted butter and the beer. Mix until just combined with a spatula. Batter will be lumpy and dense.
Pour into prepared loaf pan and even out with the spatula. I don't like to smooth the top because those uneven little bumps make an incredible crunchy topping.
Pour the remaining melted butter on top. If you want to ensure no butter oozes out onto your oven floor, you can line a baking sheet with foil and place the pan on the baking sheet.
Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the top of the loaf comes out clean.
Turn out bread onto a cooling rack and let cool.
Serve with butter and enjoy.
Notes
Some notes about the beer...I used Samuel Adams Boston Lager which produced a darker bread and the taste of beer was more pronounced.I used Budweiser and received a lighter bread with a hint of beer. You can use a beer to your liking, but be aware that the stronger the beer, the darker and stronger the taste.
