My homemade Pumpkin Spice is the perfect blend of spices for all your fall baking. Ready in five minutes and made with 5 ingredients.

Whenever I get the opportunity to create my own spice mix I take it. I feel like a mad scientist conjuring up a secret formula.
Therefore, it's no surprise that I wanted to make my own pumpkin spice. I use it to make pumpkin bread, pumpkin granola, and of course, pumpkin pie.
My pumpkin spice is simply made with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice.
This may sound obvious, but because I've made this mistake, I don't want you to make the same one. Check the date on your spices. If they've been sitting in your cabinet for a while, they'll have absolutely no flavor and they'll taste like chalk.
When making this pumpkin spice, use the oldest date of the spices you're using and write that on the label. This mixture will last as long as the manufacturer's date on the oldest spice you're using.

If one or more of your spices are close to expiration, buy fresh ones. Fresh is best!
Try adding a teaspoon of Pumpkin Spice mixed in with your coffee grounds before brewing to create a great flavored coffee. You many not even want to add cream. But if you do, try my pumpkin spice creamer.
Store the pumpkin spice in an airtight container or reuse a clean spice container, label it, and have it ready whenever you need it. Use it to add flavor to all your fall baking. Make your own, it's infinitely better!
Life is too short for mediocre food.
